CHSS Resume Ready Service

CHSS Resume Ready Service

Regardless of students’ career aspirations, having a distinguishable resume is a prerequisite when applying to internships, full-time employment opportunities, or acceptance into programs of advanced study. Recognizing that students often have limited time to schedule resume critique appointments, the center created a new asynchronous resume critique service.

Through the College of Humanities & Social Sciences (CHSS) Resume Ready Service, students can submit a copy of their resume and receive feedback through their Rowan University email address. Follow the steps listed below to utilize the CHSS Resume Ready Service:

This service is available to current CHSS undergraduate and graduate majors, as well as students currently enrolled in a CHSS course. Before submitting your resume, please verify that you meet these criteria. If you are not a CHSS major or enrolled in a relevant CHSS course, it is at the discretion of the center whether or not your resume will be critiqued, especially if this service is not a requirement for your class.

  1. Resume Preparation: Students must proactively review the following resources to update their resume as best they can before submitting it for approval. Specific resources students must review include the following:
    1. The video above further explains this service and unpacks best practices that students can incorporate into their resumes.
    2. Resume Best Practices & Resources Toolkit: This file explains each section of a student’s resume and includes examples and resources for how students can improve upon this document.
    3. Resume Template: Students who are unsatisfied with their current resume or who have used templates from Microsoft Word, Google Sheets, or Canva can utilize the listed template to create a new resume.
  2. Resume Submission: After completing the actions from step 1 listed above, students will submit their updated resume as a Microsoft Word or PDF document to be critiqued by completing the following Google Form
  3. Resume Feedback: Within 7 business days of submission, students will receive an email to their Rowan University account containing feedback on how to enhance their resume. Students are then responsible for updating their resumes based on this feedback.

Students are also welcome to schedule a follow-up in-person or virtual Resume Critique appointment through the Rowan Success Network (RSN) for any lingering questions or concerns regarding their resumes. For additional inquiries about this service, please contact chsscps@rowan.edu.
