Steps to determine if a student should enroll in the Experiential Learning in the Humanities & Social Sciences or the Internship in Applied Liberal Arts course:

  1. Determine if the student needs to complete the Experiential Learning Requirement for their graduation requirements. If a student needs to complete the Experiential Learning Requirement, view the following website to identify what courses are eligible to fulfill their requirement and if they should enroll in the Experiential Learning in the Humanities & Social Sciences or Internship in Applied Liberal Arts
  2. Based on if the student wishes to count their experience for the Experiential Learning Requirement, to receive academic credit for their internship, or both, they can enroll in the Experiential Learning in the Humanities & Socials Sciences (0 to 1 credit course sections) or the Internship in the Applied Liberal Arts (2 to 6 credit course sections) class. Both of these classes are asynchronous courses, but the main distinction is the time required for each class. Please click on the following hyperlink here to review the hour requirements for the Internship in Applied Liberal Arts and Experiential Learning in the Humanities & Social Sciences class.

Once the optimal course has been identified, complete the steps listed below at least 2 weeks before the start of the semester the student wishes to enroll in the course:

Steps for students to register for the Internship in Applied Liberal Arts course:

  1. Determine the current number of academic credits the student is enrolled in for the semester they wish to receive credit for their internship. Rowan University has a flat tuition rate for students enrolled in 12 - 17 credits. Students who are enrolled in less than 12 credits or more than 17 will incur additional out-of-pocket expenses.
  2. Determine the number of free elective credits the student can complete for the semester they wish to receive credit for their experience.
  3. Complete parts 1 and 2 of the Application for Credit document.
  4. Submit the completed Application for Credit document (including parts 1 and 2) to Dr. Stephen Fleming (flemings@rowan.edu) and the student’s internship job description.
  5. Dr. Fleming will then email the student and walk them through registering for the Internship in Applied Liberal Arts class.
