International Studies Major
International Studies majors must complete the university's Rowan Core and Rowan Experience (or General Education) requirements and have a minimum 2.0 overall G.P.A. to qualify for graduation. Students must earn a grade of C- or better in courses meeting major requirements.
Requirements for the BA in International Studies
Rowan Core Requirements not fulfilled elsewhere...9 s.h. (semester hours/credits)
Foundational Courses.............................12 s.h.
Upper-Level and Capstone Courses..................9 s.h.
Concentrations...................................15 s.h.
Students MUST choose one of the following:
- International Business and Economics
- Global and Comparative Perspectives
- Global Health Studies
- Middle East and African Studies
- Global Security
Non-Program Courses..............21-27 s.h.
Free Electives...................48-54 s.h.
Graduation.........................120 s.h.

International Studies majors are strongly encouraged to pursue a double major, minors, and/or Certificate of Undergraduate Study (CUGS) related to their areas of interest to broaden their knowledge and increase their marketability. International Studies majors with a Concentration (formerly known as specialization) in International Business & Economics are very strongly encouraged to pursue a minor in the Rohrer College of Business to strengthen their background in business--and make it easier to sign up for upper level business courses.
