Biography

Dr. Blanck teaches courses on Intellectual History, Historical Methods, and US Legal History. She also teaches courses for American Studies. Dr. Blanck received her B.A. in history from the University of Texas at Austin where she also majored in African American studies. Dr. Blanck received her M.A. at the College of William and Mary, and her Ph.D. from Emory University. Dr. Blanck first book, Tyrannicide: Forging an American Law of Slavery in Revolutionary South Carolina and Massachusetts was published in 2014 with University of Georgia Press. She is currently working on the project, Remembering Emancipation: Juneteenth as America’s Emancipation Holiday. Thus far this project has resulted in an article on Juneteenth in San Francisco in the Western Historical Quarterly (2019) and an invited entry into the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of American History entitled, "Juneteenth and Emancipation Holidays" (2020).
