Countries Visited: England, France, Belgium, and Germany
Beginning in England, the course explores World War II London, including HMS Belfast and the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms. In France, students will visit the D-Day beaches at Normandy and the French capital of Paris, including the Shoah memorial museum to French Jews killed during the Holocaust. We will tour Bastogne, a key city during the Battle of the Bulge in late 1944, and travel to the German capital of Berlin to tour several sites. The program will finish with visits to Nuremberg, site of post-war trials of Nazi leaders, and Munich, from which we will visit the first German concentration camp set up, Dachau, as well as one of Adolf Hitler’s headquarters in the Bavarian Alps.
