- October 2013: Corinne Blake delivered a paper entitled "Mustafa Shekib Bey: An Ottoman Diplomat's Response to Religious Propaganda, Rhetoric and Intervention," at the 2013 Middle East Studies Association (MESA) conference in New Orleans.
- October 2013: William Carrigan presented a paper entitled "World History and Future Directions in the Study of Lynching," at the Mid-Atlantic World History Association Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.
- October 2013: Melissa Klapper gave several lectures about her new book, "Ballots, Babies, and Banners of Peace: American Jewish Women's Activism, 1890-1940" (New York University Press, 2013). She gave a keynote address at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, and lectured at the Congregation Son of Israel in Upper Nyack, New York, and also at Columbia University in New York City.
- October 2013: Jayne Crowther gave a paper entitled "The Political Activities of Black Clubwomen to Detroit's Black Migration in the 1920s" at the 35th Annual North American Labor History Conference in Detroit, Michigan.
- October 2013: Stephen Hague was an invited speaker at the Gloucestershire Local History Association Annual conference on 12 October in Cheltenham, England.
