Reunion 2023
The Department of History hosted a successful series of events for social studies and history major alumni in late October 2023. These included an important and timely lecture on October19th by David Tarr ('65) entitled "How to Save the Planet." Tarr, the former Lead Economist of the World Bank, spoke about a strategy to gain bipartisan support for action on the climate crisis. The lecture was part of the Centennial Lecture series and was sponsored by the Department of History, the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, the Office of Alumni Engagement, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Rohrer College of Business, and the School of the Earth and the Environment. The following day, Friday, October 20th, the Department hosted a reunion for Social Studies and History Majors that attacted 90 attendees to the Summit City Winery in Glassboro. The highlight of the evening was the announcement by Don Borden ('79) that sufficient funds had been received to endow the Dr. Lee Bruce Kress Scholarship in History. This is the first fund dedicated to supporting a graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree in history.
