CUGS in New Jersey Amistad Law and African American Studies for
Future Educators

The CUGS in New Jersey Amistad Law and African American Studies for Future Educators provides content knowledge and preparation for future teachers to develop robust lesson plans on African American history. The CUGS strengthens state-wide and local efforts to implement the 2002 Amistad law, which requires public school teachers to incorporate Black history into their curriculum. The CUGS will also give students a competitive advantage in the job market as the government increases its efforts to enforce the mandate.
