Rosemary Geri Scholarship

Objective:

The Rosemary Geri '77 World Languages Scholarship was established in honor of Rosemary Geri, who graduated from Glassboro State College (Rowan University) in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. She taught at the Northfield Community School for 23 years and was named Teacher of the year in 2010. She traveled extensively in the US, Europe, Far East and South Pacific and was particularly interested in experiencing Hispanic cultures.

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide assistance in the form of tuition, fees, and course-related books and software. The scholarship may also be used for living expenses and academically-related foreign travel.

Eligibility:

  1. This scholarship is intended for full-time Majors in Spanish, Modern Languages & Linguistics, and Area Studies.
  2. The student's overall GPA must be at least 3.25.
  3. The student must be of Junior or Senior standing.
  4. Preference will be given to lower-income applicants with financial need.

Download the application here and submit via e-mail to Dr. Alessandra Mirra (mirra@rowan.edu), World Languages Scholarship Committee Chairperson, by March 31, 2025. Please include “Geri Scholarship” in the subject line of the e-mail. There will be two scholarship recipients chosen annually.

Scholarships Awarded:

  • First student awarded $6,460 for Summer 2025 and/or Fall 2025
  • Second student awarded $6,460 for Spring 2026
