Erika Freiberger Memorial Scholarship for World Language Students

In accord with the wide-ranging interests and pursuits of the late Dr. Erika Freiberger, the Department of World Languages has instituted the Erika Freiberger Memorial Scholarship. This award is intended to assist students pursuing programs within the Department of World Languages in taking advantage of the opportunities available for foreign study. Its purpose is to serve students in their desire to improve their language skills and increase their knowledge and awareness of the culture they are studying.


Objective: In accord with the wide-ranging interests and pursuits of the late Dr. Erika Freiberger, the Department of World Languages has instituted the Erika Freiberger Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is intended to offset travel costs for Rowan students going abroad to study in credit-related programs or to participate in variable credit work-related field service. Its purpose is to serve students in their desire to improve their language skills and increase their knowledge and awareness of the culture they are studying.

Eligibility:

  1. This scholarship is intended for full-time students enrolled in major, minor or certificate programs offered by the Department of World Languages.
  2. The student's overall GPA and the GPA in the language program must be at least 3.0.
  3. The student must have completed, or have language experience equivalent to, 4 semesters in the language of the country in which the stay will occur.

Application Deadline: Type the information requested below and submit via e-mail to Prof. Lorena Santos Quiñones (santos-quinones@rowan.edu), World Languages Scholarship Committee Chairperson, by March 31, 2024.  Please include “Freiberger Scholarship” in the Subject Line of the e-mail.

Scholarship Awarded: $500 

Eligible Travel: Summer 2024, Fall 2024 and/or Spring 2025
