Christine E. Poteau grew up in a multicultural family, with immersive experiences in Brazilian and Ukrainian cultures, inspiring her to pursue studies in Spanish Applied Linguistics. Her research and pedagogical interests include intercultural competence development, linguistic and ethnic minorities, and health care and legal disparities. Her work has been published in numerous books and journals. She is the recipient of the Henderson Plenary Award at the Foreign Language Education and Technology (FLEAT) VI Conference at Harvard University and served as the keynote speaker at the Northeast Association for Language Learning Technology (NEALLT) 2016 Conference at Gettysburg College. She was also invited to participate in "Moving Forward" in Pittsburgh, PA, the second design thinking symposium hosted by the Language Flagship Technology Innovation Center (LFTIC) of the University of Hawai'i and the U.S. Department of Defense. Dr. Poteau remains actively involved in professional organizations and currently serves as U.S. Liaison to Linguistics of the International Higher Education Teaching and Learning (HETL) Association.
