Laurie Kaplis-Hohwald is a native of New York City. She teaches major courses in Peninsular Spanish literature, grammar, composition, civilization, Spanish for the professions, as well as a variety of interdisciplinary Honors courses. Dr. Hohwald's principal field of research is Spanish Renaissance poetry, and she has published articles on Lope de Vega's religious poetry, the picaresque novel and other Golden Age themes. She has presented papers at major regional and international conferences, and is the author of a book on translations of the Biblical Psalms in sixteenth and seventeenth century Spain. Having attended the Universidad de Sevilla as part of her undergraduate education, Dr. Hohwald is an aficionada of all things flamenco.
