Biography
Edward C. Smith III is Associate Professor of French and German literature and language. He teaches courses in literature, as well as grammar, composition and civilization. His interests include the 19th-century historical and realist novel, narratology and the writing of history, and literary theory and criticism. He has published and presented papers at national and inter-national conferences on a number of authors including Walter Scott, Honoré de Balzac and Theodor Fontane. Dr. Smith organizes annual educational travel programs and has visited countries as diverse as Bangladesh, Poland and Italy. He has also studied in France, Germany and Spain.
