Biography

Dr. Marilyn S. Manley is a Full Professor of Spanish and she has served as the Chair of the World Languages department at Rowan since 2015. Her teaching and research interests include topics of both Theoretical and Applied Linguistics. She has published and presented papers on topics of Hispanic Sociolinguistics, Linguistic Anthropology, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL), and Quechua (the indigenous language of the South American Andes, spoken today by over eight million descendants of the Inca Empire). She also now serves as Co-Director of her ongoing project, the Quechua Innovation and Teaching Initiative (QINTI). She has lived and studied in the United States, Spain, Mexico, and Peru and has carried out linguistic research with speakers of English, Spanish, Quechua, and Juchitán Zapotec.
