The Spanish Major Concentration/Certificate of Undergraduate Study (CUGS) in Spanish American Literature and Culture (12 s.h.) recognizes students’ completion of 12 s.h. in related coursework at the 300 and 400 levels. For Spanish Majors, this credential is referred to as a Concentration; for non-Spanish Majors, this credential is referred to as a Certificate. This Concentration/Certificate enhances the profile of all job applicants across all fields of study, as it represents Advanced-level proficiency and the ability to access the culture of Latin America through literature, with a view to giving students the in-depth knowledge that will serve them in their professional life in many fields, including, for example, diplomacy, translation, education and politics.
