The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at Rowan University prepares students for a broad range of entry-level positions in behavioral health, community organizing, and/or healthcare agencies.
A BSW offers an opportunity for an accelerated pathway to the Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, enabling eligable applicants to apply for Advanced Standing. Advanced Standing allows students to waive an entire year of graduate coursework. BSW Program Guide
Students will receive a comprehensive background in the 9 core competencies of social work, which include:
Social Work Competencies (EPAS, 2022)
Competency 1: Demonstrate Ethical and Professional Behavior
Competency 2: Advance Human Rights and Social, Racial, Economic and Environmental Justice
Competency 3: Engage in Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ADEI) in Practice
Competency 4: Engage in Practice-informed Research and Research-informed Practice
Competency 5: Engage in Policy Practice
Competency 6: Engage with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
Competency 7: Assess Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
Competency 8: Intervene with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
Competency 9: Evaluate Practice with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
*We are currently only accepting students graduating in 2028 or later
