Sigma Delta Pi
Sigma Delta Pi, also known as the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society (La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica), is a non-profit organization that was established on November 14th, 1919, at the University of California Berkeley. It has been recognized as the only honor society devoted exclusively to students of Spanish in four-year colleges and universities. As such, Sigma Delta Pi offers a distinguished opportunity for its members.
According to the national organization's website, its mission is divided into four main parts:
- To honor those who excel in the study of the Spanish language and in the study of the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking world;
- To foster an understanding, appreciation and respect for the peoples, cultures and societies of the Spanish-speaking world;
