Biography

Tiffany Tillman has been an instructor in the Department of Law & Justice Studies since 2011. She earned both her M.S. in Criminal Justice, and B.S. in Criminal Justice from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to her teaching and service commitments, Professor Tillman is excited to take on a new role as Program Coordinator of Liberal Studies within the CHSS’s Center for Interdisciplinary Studies.

Professor Tillman’s research interests in criminal justice include: studying portrayals of crime and the criminal justice system in the media, understanding the role of media influence on public perceptions of crime, the role of social media and police/community relationships. Professor Tillman also researchers and has created a Senior Seminar course exploring the process of reentry and the experiences of returning citizens and works directly with various reentry organizations in the Philadelphia area. Her other passion is student-centeredness with a focus on cultural competency in criminal justice and higher education, efforts in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and best practices and student support in higher education.
