Funds
American Federation of Teachers
Funds 4 scholarships. Only 2 are CHSS. Martin Luther King Scholarship: EOF, MAP, Flack Mentoring Program student. Students enrolled in the Africana Studies major or Africana Studies Concentration also eligible. Paul Tong Scholarship: Humanities major. Recipients chosen by University Committee.

Nathan R. Carb Fund
This scholarship honors the contributions of Dr. Nathan R. Carb by awarding a scholarship to an English major who intends to enroll in a graduate program. There is one scholarship available.
CHSS Fund for Career Preparation
Donations made to this fund will go directly to providing seed money for internships (including helping students with professional dress and travel expenses), funding student travel for research, paying for workshops to assist students with career skills such as interviewing effectively and practicing professional etiquette at business meals, and providing honoraria for local employers and alumni to visit campus to network with students.

Becker Scholarship
Scholarship awarded to a Political Science major who excels academically who will be attending graduate or law school. 1st preference: Student accepted into a PhD program with intention of pursuing a specialization in Constitutional Law. 2nd preference: student accepted into an ABA accredited law school. 3rd preference: student accepted into a PhD program in Political Science, regardless of specialization. Selection by Political Science Chair.
Thelma Rebecca Dyer Caswell and Helen Criden Cohen Scholarship
Recipients must be enrolled in either the Women’s and Gender Studies Program or a Women’s and Gender Studies course. Preference to first-generation college attendee who also has a single parent. If no qualified student meets this preference, the scholarship can be awarded to a Women’s and Gender Studies student. Selected by Women and Gender Studies Advisory Board.
Rosemary Geri Foreign Languages Scholarship
Scholarship provides assistance in the form of tuition, fees, books and software. It can also be used for living expenses and academically related foreign travel (with unanimous approval of selection committee). Recipient will be a Foreign Languages junior or senior with a 3.25 GPA. Preference to lower income students who demonstrate financial need. Awarded by a special committee.
Maxine A. Hartley & Richard J. Johnson Scholarship
To recognize the academic efforts of an English major who is a single parent or a student with financial need. Scholarship is renewable as long as student meets criteria. Selected by members of the English Department, chaired by Dr. Coulombe.
Rowan Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship
The description can read: Scholarship for student from any major with at least a 3.4 GPA who is studying abroad for a semester. Applications will be due in mid-February and recipients will be selected by a panel chaired by Dr. Corinne Blake.
Amelia & Peter Kressler Scholarship
Scholarship awarded to a junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA. 1st preference- Economics major. 2nd preference- Any Liberal arts major. Selected by University Committee.
Marius Livingston Scholarship
Two scholarships: 1-History major. 2-Geography & the Environment major. Recipient must have a 3.0 GPA and have completed 4 full semesters. Selected by History and Geography & the Environment departments.
Richard Mitchell Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of this award is to recognize an English major who best exemplifies Dr. Mitchell's daring, audacity, originality and enthusiasm. This award is not based on GPA but recognizes outstanding intellectual ability distinguished by creative thinking. Good departmental citizenship is another factor in determining the award recipient. There is one award given annually.
Dr. Bela Mukhoti Scholarship in Economics
Scholarship recognizes a full time upper-class student studying Economics with a 3.0 GPA. First preference to research interns within the South Jersey Research Institute for Economics and Politics.. Recipient selected by Political Science & Economics department.
Josefina & Enrique Pujals Study Abroad Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is to honor Dr. Josefina Pujals and Dr. Enrique Pujals for their dedication, devotion and instrumental role in the advisement and education of countless numbers of Rowan University Spanish Majors over three decades. In particular, it pays tribute to the warmness with which they interacted with students and the hearts they touched both in the classroom and out. This scholarship will assist and encourage qualified Spanish majors to take advantage of the innumerable Study Abroad opportunities available to them in Latin America, homeland of the Pujals and cultural heritage to many Rowan students as well as to the surrounding general population. Its purpose is to serve Spanish Majors in their desire to improve their language skills, to increase their knowledge and awareness of other peoples and cultures and to broaden their world vision through exposure to the larger culture of Hispanic study and thought.

Frank and Helen Richie Scholarship
Recipient majors in English/Education with a 3.0 GPA. Scholarship awarded to a junior (entering senior year) with priority given to a South Jersey resident. Selected by University Committee.
Dr. John Visceglia Memorial Scholarship
To honor the commitment to Education by Dr. Visceglia, the scholarship is given to a junior who majors in Psychology with a 3.0 GPA. Selected by University Committee.
Nicholas Yovnello Scholarship
Scholarship honors the memory of Nick Yovnello. Awarded to a junior or senior with a 3.0 GPA and financial need. Preference to: 1-History, Political Science or Education majors. 2-Students who have worked at Campbell Library. 3- Students with an immediate family member who is a member of a union. Selected by University Committee.
Gary Hunter Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship acknowledges the contributions of Dr. Gary Hunter to the University. The recipient must be a History major with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. He/she must also be matriculated, enrolled full-time and in good standing with the University.
