Our mission is to help the gaming community at Rowan reach its full potential and foster great relationships between both casual and competitive gamers campus-wide. Whether you're on the path to pro or a casual gamer, Rowan University Esports is your hub for all things gaming on campus! We have teams for a variety of popular games such as Valorant, Rocket League, Overwatch, League of Legends, CS:GO, CoD, Smash Bros, Splatoon, and Omega Strikers. We are always open to creating more competitive teams, so reach out if your game isn't listed! 

Since 1938, The Whit has served as Rowan University’s exclusive campus newspaper. This student-run weekly includes a staff of eleven editors as well as a dozen or more reporters who cover everything happening in and around the university, including news, features, art & entertainment, and athletics. The Whit is always looking for new student reporters and editors who are looking to engage with their university in unique ways while also gaining real-world experience as 21st century journalists, which not only means writing weekly news articles but also taking photos and producing engaging pieces of audio and video journalism for The Whit’s website. Student editors and reporters meet every Wednesday afternoon to compile that week’s issue in a fun, inclusive, and engaging environment, and the work they do plays a vital role in helping them get internships and jobs in the field of journalism. PRaction, Rowan University's student public relations firm, offers students the opportunity to gain work experience while helping local businesses and nonprofits. Students meet twice-a-month on Wednesdays to develop strategies and execute PR plans for organizations such as YoGo Factory, The Sassy Apple, Family Promise, and the Animal Welfare Association (and many more). Students perfect their skills while working directly with clients and developing professional portfolios. Students are welcome to join at any time.

Cinema Workshop is Rowan University's student filmmaking club, and has been for the past 42 years. This club offers students the opportunity to work on film, video and multimedia projects outside of the classroom experience. Students take skills learned in production classes and apply them to creative work either more personal or larger in scope than what is possible within the confines of a 15 week course of study. After a peer-oriented pitch and approval process, Cinema Workshop provides grants in the form of goods and services through production, culminating in a year-end screening of often award-winning films and videos.

Avant Magazine is Rowan University’s oldest creative outlet. Avant has weekly meetings, Tuesdays at 8 p.m. in the Victoria building, room 200, at the intersection of Mick Drive and Victoria Street. At the meetings, submissions are anonymously reviewed by the editorial staff and democratically voted on for acceptance or resubmission.

Rowan students can submit their work year-round. We accept stories up to 2,500 words in length, and poems up to a comparable size. We also accept photography and artwork.

All submissions are read anonymously to provide a no-bias atmosphere when critiquing and accepting a work. No work is ever “rejected”: instead, the author of the work is asked to resubmit. All pieces are works in progress; if a work seems ready for publication, we vote as an editorial staff and select it.

The Health and Science Communication (HSC) Club provides an avenue for students interested in health and science communication (i.e., message development and design) to make connections with one another. The club facilitates opportunities for students to grow their knowledge and expand their interests while working on projects that benefit the broader community.
