The Department of Political Science and Economics is a vibrant intellectual community promoting scholarly inquiry into how politics and economics advance society through research, teaching, and public service. We offer a range of undergraduate and graduate courses across sub-fields in both Economics and Political Science. Our nationally and internationally recognized faculty conduct research in a variety of areas that inform their teaching and position them as important scholars in their fields of study.

In Economics, our faculty teach courses in microeconomics and macroeconomics, health economics, money and banking, and global economics among others. In Political Science, our faculty teach courses in American politics, international relations, political theory, and comparative politics. And in both programs, students complete their studies with a unique, year-long course of methods and seminar, leading to an original research project.

We also offer a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree that provides students with the critical tools for effective policy analysis, such as cost-benefit analysis, formal program evaluation, and policy-relevant statistics. 

Our graduates go on to become highly successful in their professional fields. Some enter competitively ranked graduate programs, while others go straight into positions in public, private, or non-profit organizations. With degrees in Economics, Political Science, or public policy, our graduates are among the top earners in the liberal arts.
