Philosophy
Philosophy
Welcome to Philosophy at Rowan
In Philosophy we examine our most fundamental human values, using theory to address urgent social and ethical issues. Our majors explore the wide varieties of individual and cultural identity. We apply philosophical theory to address environmental issues, biomedical ethics, and other vital social topics. And we critically examine the foundations of human knowledge and practices. Through these inquiries, students develop valuable reading, writing and reasoning skills that will help them in every area of their lives.
We offer a major in Philosophy, along with a variety of minors and CUGS. (See our Programs page.) Philosophy majors excell on all of the graduate school admissions tests: GRE, LSAT, GMAT, and MCAT. Our majors are especially well suited for those interested in law, government, public policy, publishing, journalism, business management, advertising, environmental advocacy, science policy, health care management, and social work. Our alumni are currently working in law, educational leadership, Homeland Security, university teaching, business management, public policy, university administration, and many other fields.
The Department of Philosophy and World Religions is located on the 2nd floor of Laurel Hall. (856-256-4075)
