Gamma Chi Sigma - The Criminal Justice Club

Gamma Chi Sigma is a student run organization open to all Law and Justice Studies majors and minors. It is the local chapter of Lambda Alpha Epsilon, the American Criminal Justice Association. Professor Stanley Yeldell advises the group.

The purpose of our organization is to further professionalism in all areas of criminal justice, whether as professionals or students. Additionally, involvement in Gamma Chi is a great way to meet other like-minded law and justice majors, network and learn about classes or professors.

As a student run organization Gamma Chi Sigma is what we make it, and currently we need interested law and justice students who want to make a substantial and positive contribution.

Alpha Phi Sigma - Epsilon Nu - The Law & Justice Honor Society

Epsilon Nu is the local chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the National Criminal Justice Honor Society. The society recognizes academic excellence of undergraduate, graduate students of criminal justice, as well as juris doctorate.

All Law & Justice Studies majors or minors with a 3.2 GPA both overall and in Law & Justice Studies courses are welcome.

In order to become a member you must have:

  • A declared major or minor in Law and Justice
  • Completed three semesters at Rowan
  • A 3.2 GPA in Law and Justice Courses
  • A 3.2 GPA overall
  • Completed a minimum of 4 courses within the field
  • Transfer students must have completed 2 semesters at Rowan

Victim Awareness Club

The Victim Awareness Organization was conceived by Dr. Stanley Yeldell to address the prevailing victimization issues within the University Community. The Organization will disseminate the following information to the University student body and the State as a Community:
1. Victim Right as defined by New Jersey Statutes;
2. The impact of Violence to the various Victims;
3. The understanding of Domestic Violence;
4. The recognization of The Cycle of Violence By Dr. Lenore Walker;
5. Victim Assistance Services;
6. Linkage to State and National Crime Victims Organizations;
7. And to raise funds to help protect victims rights.

Moreover, the ultimate goal of the Organization is to host State and National Crime Victim Conferences and to establish local chapters at the 21 community colleges and the criminal justice colleges and universities within the State of New Jersey.

The membership is not limited to Law/Justice students but open to the entire student body of Rowan University and related Victim Assistance Programs.

Criminal Justice Preparation Club (CJ Prep Club)

This club is devoted to preparing students, interested in the criminal justice system, for careers. Members can expect to learn a wide range of useful tools and knowledge to give them advantages when applying for future jobs and for acceptance into competitive internship programs. The CJ Prep Club will frequently hold mock job interviews and provide resources to prepare members, present career options available in municiple, state and federal criminal justice agencies and arrange for guest speakers to come in and answer any questions members may have for them regarding their job or agency.
