DNA markers: Ongoing research at Dartmouth College is looking to gain DNA information from two petrous bones recovered in the remains. The petrous bone tends to contain well-preserved DNA.

Stable isotope analysis: Researchers from the University of Georgia will conduct stable isotope analysis on the teeth. Their research could provide clues about the soldiers’ diet and population movements.
