American Sign Language (ASL) Club

The ASL Club is a student-led organization established to provide a safe space for Rowan University Students seeking to learn and grow as we step foot into Deaf Culture and Communities through the use of American Sign Language. American Sign Language is a natural language used by a culturally and linguistically close-knit community, conveyed through the use of hand signs, body language, and facial expressions. The goal of this club is to build a deeper understanding of the Deaf community in general and to build that connection on campus. We strive to be a resource for those who aspire to learn ASL and use it properly. In club meetings, we will review signs learned in class, play games, and practice together.

Starting in October, meeting times will be every OTHER Tuesday and every Thursday in Hawthorn Hall, Room 204. From 3:30-5:00pm, it will be a time to hangout with us, practice/review signs, get done homework, and socialize. We will have our actual meeting time at 5:00-6:00pm, where we will do a BRIEF review and move forward with our lesson plan.
